The Hunger Games First Lines/Pages: Katniss and Prim--of course Suzanne Collins starts off her novel with both Everdeen sisters because the whole trilogy is really about the two of them even if the books are told through Katniss' eyes. In the first paragraph, the reader can already sense Katniss' place in her family, and how she cares for her sister and mom.  And it's already ominous: with the question of what the 'reaping' may be.

I'll be honest and say that it took me a bit to pick up The Hunger Games because the concept of the book didn't appeal to me.  However, the voice and tone of the novel immediately drew me in.

ETA: In my Book Versus Film series, I delve more into The Hunger Games trilogy and the movies here.

Which district would you live in if you had to choose? Do you ship Katniss-Gale or Katniss-Peeta?

Let me know if you have a suggestion for the First Lines series.
