Book Friends
Itās stressful times for everyone. Coronavirus hasnāt hit SoCal hard, yet. YET. But I didnāt really sleep last night because I canāt stop thinking about what may come. I know Iām not the only one in that boat, especially with many (in the U.S.) on shelter in place orders.
Weāre still taking walks. And I feel very lucky and blessed that the girlsā school started distance learning yesterday. I canāt emphasize enough what a difference that made in the spirit of our houseāyes, it changed in just one day because it created a sense of normalcy in our world that is changing so much day to day.
I read a great article by an American couple in quarantine in China. Theyāre seven weeks ahead of us in quarantine time and this article explains how they stayed sane.
Weāve been organizing the house. I wish I could say that I have tons of free time, but I donāt. Iām a doctor and Iām still going in to work though this week has been slow.
I canāt focus to write. Mini Me canāt either.
My plan for escape? Books, of course.
Iām finding solace in some old friends.
What I mean is that when I really canāt focus on whatās going on, I pull out some of my favorite re-reads.
To All the Boys Iāve Loved Before x 3
These are the books I currently have in my TBRR pile. To Be Re-Read.
(Yes, Iām on a first name basis with these old friends, hence why I didnāt include the authors. But you can click the link if you want more info.)
I have a pile of new TBR books, donāt get me wrong.
But sometimes our minds need a little famiiiarity and comfort. Sometimes our minds want to know whatās coming.
Or discover what we missed the first time around.
Thatās my plan for today. Or for the next hour until I wake up the girls for distance learning. Then my plan is to focus on what they need. Join in on PE. Do some yoga. And try not to read the news before bedtime so I can sleep tonight!
What are some of your favorite re-reads?
Iām over due for a read-along and leaning toward Rainbow Rowellās Fangirl since Iām about to re-start it and Mini Me has been reading it this week. My other thought is to do a read-along (virtual book club) to discuss the two books that spawned from Fangirl, Carry On and Wayward Son. Especially because I STILL havenāt read Wayward Son yet.
