Pixie Tricks

Little Lion Bookworm (age 10):

Pixie Tricks: Sprite’s Secret by Tracey West is an amazing story with an engaging plot that anyone would like. As a fan of her Dragon Masters, I would say any day that Tracey West is a genius, a truly great author. Pixie Tricks is about an eight-year-old girl who is chasing a toad who stole her marble when she runs into a fairy named Sprite in need of her help. I was able to read the early version of this book, meaning that many of the illustrations are sketches and I was able to see the illustrator's work in progress. This book is full of surprises and intricate plot details, much like Dragon Masters. I love the different ways to use magic mentioned in this book, and the many more that I am sure are coming in the next. Tracey West is an author I aspire to be like, and a person in general that I respect. I don't know what else to say about this book, but when it gets out, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and fantasy, and those of you who don't but want to try something new

Side note: As Little Lion says above, we received an ARC (advanced reader copy) as part of a giveaway from the author, Tracey West. We are SO excited to read number two and can’t wait for Pixie Tricks to come out in the fall. Little Lion is an advanced reader now, but she wasn’t as confident in her reading abilities when she was much younger. The Scholastic Branches early readers fulfill a fantastic gap between sight words/picture books and chapter books. Besides the Dragon Masters series mentioned above, we’ve also loved Olive and Beatrix by Amy Marie Stadelmann.
