Disney Bounding Wednesdays

Disney Bounding Wednesdays

It’s no secret that I love Disneyland. When Mr. Bookworm and I were first dating, we used to go in on my sister’s pass. (Not an annual pass, but one that she was given for dancing at a Disney event and therefore no photo. AND it allowed me to take in him as well.) I’m sure I wore him out on that pass.

But I have SO many fond memories at Disneyland as a child. I’m old enough that I remember going to see the parades and buying different level ticket booklets. I also remember going on It’s a Small World as a child. And I remember my sisters and I accompanying my Lola (grandma) when we were in middle school. I have NO idea what she did when we went on rides, something I never thought about until I was bringing my own children there.

Mr. Bookworm promised me years ago that we would get annual passes once we had kids. So when Mini Me was eight months old, I made him make good on that promise. I think I even extracted it while we were pregnant with her. (I don’t mind saying ‘we’, even though I did most of the work. Mr. Bookworm took very good care of me during all of my pregnancies, just like he still does now. He fed me so I could grow those babies.)

We kept those passes until Little Lion was no longer free and the Southern California pass became too expensive and we weren’t going enough to justify the expense.

And then we followed my friend’s example and started to go to Disneyland on Macy’s birthday to celebrate her. (One year we went to Universal Studios instead and we’ve been going to San Diego for the past few years.)

Last June we stayed at the Grand California hotel (dream come true!) to celebrate the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. Okay, it also was to make sure we actually could get IN to Galaxy’s Edge when there was fear that there would be too many people. It turns out all of us gung-ho fans went that first month. :D

And I really wanted to dress up, except I’m slightly over the age of 14 years old, the Disneyland limit for full costumes. BUT, Disney Bounding is allowed for all ages.

So it may come as NO surprise to you that I decided to Disney Bound to work on Wednesdays! Since December, I’ve been dressing up with whatever I find in my closet and also digging out some older dresses that I haven’t worn in a while. It’s been a lot of fun, especially now that Disneyland is closed for quarantine.

I’m running out of ideas now—please feel free to make suggestions in the comment section below.

[Side note: I started writing this post way before quarantine started. It may surprise you to find out that I went to Disneyland THREE times in the weeks before quarantine….back when we weren’t aware that there was widespread community spread. We were cautious, however, and brought masks and hand sanitizer/wipes. I admit that I didn’t wear the masks at the time as in February there was a lot of fear (which has returned) regarding masks and I worried that we would be targeted also because I’m Chinese-Filipino-American. There has been a LOT of Asian racism going on, and while I luckily haven’t experienced any of it, I didn’t want to tempt fate. When will I go back to Disneyland? I’m not sure yet. I finally renewed my pass this year and now it isn’t being used. We shall see what the future holds.]
