The Alpalcalypse

The Alpalcalypse

It’s no secret that I fell in love with Llama with his very first word: DAT!

There are many llamas out there, but no llama is quite like the llama created by duo Jonathan Stutzman (author) and Heather Fox (illustrator).

Their first llama collaboration, Llama Destroys the Universe, is my current favorite picture book….but it may soon be outstripped by its sequel, Llama Unleashes the Alpacalypse.

Why?

Because llama just gets more and more endearing. And these books have exactly our type of Bookworm family humor. Add in cloning and a love of food, and we are ALL IN.

Some say that we are currently living in an apocalypse during quarantine. I admit that I was thinking about it like that too at the very beginning. I feel like I went through all the stages of grief and I’m currently at acceptance. (Though I’m still simmering over how the government has handled their bungled response at the beginning through now…that’s a different topic.)

Our llama, who is a llama of science and a daring adventurer and a versatile stage actor, has a simple plan: clone his friend, Alpaca, who is neat and tidy and so fond of cleaning that Llama won’t have to clean up his mess after cooking because the Alpaca clone will do it for him.

Yes, it’s a bit of a diabolical plan….so of course it goes awry. He doesn’t just clone Alpaca, he clones Alpaca repeatedly, and then the Alpacas take over the world.

There’s second lunch and second dinner, but despite the fact that there’s no second breakfast (sorry LOTR fans), Llama continues to charm us.

LLama Unleashes the Alpacalypse is a the perfect read for emerging and established readers who are in need of a good laugh out loud book. That’s all of us. :D

It released with a BANG last week.

And now I’m off to second breakfast!

In honor of World Read Aloud Day 2020, Dr. Bookworm and Mr. Bookworm do a read-along OF LLAMA DESTROYS THE WORLD by Jonathan Stutzman and illustrated by Heat...
